WHO’S WHO OF HAITIAN WOMEN OF ACHIEVEMENT

As we celebrate Women’s History Month, we think about myriad of contemporary Haitian women who continue to amaze us by their outstanding achievement in a variety of fields. Thus, we would like to take this opportunity to salute their efforts, praise their commitment, and commend their dedication, which inspire so many of us. Since it would not be possible to feature all of them here, we will present a small sample of this impressive elite. Be aware that this is an eclectic group where ages, occupations, and abilities vary. The common thread is the excellence that characterizes these ladies’ endeavors. May they serve as role models to the younger generations as we learn best by following examples!

“I’ve always enjoyed being stylish with a unique color coordinated flair. Everything I wore needed to match. The problem I encountered was finding high quality jewelry in my style and color. I would make clothes and create outfits to match the jewelry I purchased. This frustration greatly influenced my desire to make my own jewelry. Friends and colleagues would  ask for my jewelry, whenever I wore a new creation. I use high quality semi-precious beads, no plastic, in my designs, combined with Sterling Silver, Gold filled, Stainless Steel, and Copper findings. I also use a variety of other beads, including, glass, ceramic, crystal, quartz, freshwater pearls, and shell. Each set is as unique as the person, on whom, it is worn.
